Why Do I Need an Accountability Partner? Part 1
Has anyone been to a presentation designed to aid you in growing your business? In my last 30+ years I have been to at least 100 of them. They were all presented by industry leaders whose job was to travel to different cities and speak to different groups from different companies, and they all had good information. The problem was that by the time I got off the plane after leaving the meeting, I hurt forgotten everything they said and all the exercises we had done. Real life set in and urgent trumped important. The only time I ever used a presentation was when I enrolled in a sales system that others had told me changed their business. It cost what seemed to me like a lot of money at the time, but I believed I could learn the system to improve my business. It worked. Does anyone have any idea why?
- Paid money I had to scrape up. One of my colleagues told me that he couldn’t afford to learn the system. I replied that I couldn’t afford not to do it. The training was in Minneapolis and Scottsdale, AZ (in September. It was 110).
- I learned systems and processes that worked. This included preparing presentations but it also included how to prospect and how to present to those prospects.
- And last but certainly not least it contained accountability. There were people whose job it was to talk with us individually on a weekly basis or were on call if we needed advice preparing a presentation. That was most important as it kept me focused.
- I was learning this system to raise my income. Therefore, I was focused. This was not a hobby.
